Michigan Festival: Dream Cruise

2017 Woodward Dream Cruise: Tips and tricks from us locals - Autoblog - LookUp Detroit

Detroit, Michigan, widely regarded as Motor City. The history of automobiles in the Great Lakes state is a long and well-known tale. General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler were all based in Detroit in the 1920’s, and naturally, this means many old cars from decades ago are treasured.

The Woodward Dream Cruise was founded in 1995 by a group of volunteers hoping to share older cars of their own, and held a cruise down Woodward, the oldest road in Michigan, which stretches from Detroit up 20 miles north-west. Ever since, the one day cruise has become the world’s largest car cruise. Every year, you’ll be sure to come across many events, which you can check out here for old cars exhibition!

2021’s cruise took place on August 21st, but take a visit to Woodward Avenue and you still might see many old cars being driven down the highway. Be cautious of traffic and the heat, as anybody is allowed to join the cruise and the road will be busy, but you’ll be able to seek solace in the hundreds of shops you’ll find along the road, ranging from custard ice cream to coffee and cake.
