Explore Michigan: Mackinac City

From its historical importance to the beautiful scenery, Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island are great places to visit any time of the year. You can enjoy the historic forts, enjoy some authentic fudge, or bike around the island.

Mackinaw City is filled with history, and you can live in it by visiting Fort Mackinac. Explore the fort and learn about the relationships between the Native Americans, the French, and the British. You can enter the village while listening to a tour. While you’re there, you can watch a demo of a regiment of redcoats firing their rifles. You can even experience loading and firing a cannon!

You can relax on a horse-drawn carriage as you explore Mackinac Island. You’ll be able to take in the beautiful scenery and the charming and bustling town. Instead of sitting in a carriage all day, you’ll also have the option to bike around if you want some exercise. You’ll be able to bike on a trail circling the island. Just remember to put on your helmet!

If you’re feeling a little hungry, visit one of the thirteen fudge shops in Mackinaw City! Mackinaw City is the modern-day fudge capital. Try all the different flavors like Butter Pecan or Traverse City Cherry. If you visit during the holiday, you can also get special flavors like Pumpkin Spice and Chocolate Coffee Caramel. Give it a try!
