It has the 11th lowest high-school graduation rate and the 21st highest public-school spending. Top Universities in Michigan

With an acceptance rate of 23%, The University of Michigan is the most prestigious school for higher education in the state. Additionally, U of M is ranked as one of the top public universities nationwide, included on the list of “Public Ivies”. With over 200 undergraduate majors, 100 doctoral programs, and 90 master’s programs, the University of Michigan holds a strong academic reputation with some of the best phenomenal business, engineering, and medical programs in the United States. However, aside from academics, U of M has a gorgeous campus with plenty of beautiful scenery and architecture.

Michigan State University is the second most popular university in Michigan with an acceptance rate of 71%. With one of the largest student populations in the United States, the university is ranked 105th in the world and #34 for the best public universities. Although the college has over 200 academic programs, MSU’s strongest academic programs include education, psychology, and physics. Today, the campus extends over 5,300 acres with 563 buildings.

As a public research university, Michigan Tech offers more than 120 undergraduate and graduate degrees in areas like engineering, computing, business, technology, humanities, arts, and more. The acceptance rate is around 74% and the graduation rate is roughly 67%. Michigan Tech’s campus spans roughly 925 acres and boasts an extremely strong safety rating. According to Reader’s Digest, it is rated the safest campus in Michigan and the third safest in the United States.

As Michigan’s third-largest university, Wayne state has an acceptance rate of about 73%. The school consists of 13 schools with over 350 programs and is ranked 121st nationally. The main campus is 203 acres of land with more than 100 buildings designed by famous architects like Albert Kahn and Minoru Yamasaki. Top Michigan Public School Districts

Novi is one of the top public schools in Michigan. Outside of a stellar academic reputation, the extracurricular participation of Novi’s students is also very strong. 54% of Novi’s students are involved in athletics from grades 7-12 and 29% of the students are involved in performing arts. With a graduation rate of 96%, the student body is extremely diverse and the learning experience is very highly rated.

Troy’s high school district is primarily composed of two main schools: Troy High School and Athens High School. Similar to Novi, the Troy School District offers some of the best high school education in the state of Michigan. They prioritize learning, empower students to connect learning to the world, and attend to physical and mental health.

 

Bloomfield Hills ranks #5 as one of the best school districts in Michigan. The average graduation rate is 94%, with the two most popular high schools as Bloomfield Hills High school and the prestigious International Academy. In BH Schools, students are supported in an environment that promotes learning, creativity, and critical thinking. Within the schools, there are over 128 clubs and co-curricular activities, and nearly 80% of the teaching staff has master’s and doctoral degrees. 

 

Northville is a top-rated public school with a student-teacher ratio of 19 to 1. State test scores say that at least 73% of all students are proficient in math and 79% of all students are at least proficient in reading. In terms of rankings, Northville is very strong, rated as the #2 best school district in Michigan and the #2 best place to teach in Michigan from Niche. The average graduation rate from Northville High School is 97%, making it a very strong choice. 

There are a few main public high schools within the Ann Arbor area: Skyline High School, Pioneer High School, Community High school. The district is ranked #2 for Best School Districts in Washtenaw county and is #10 for the best school districts in Michigan. With proximity to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor’s students are most interested in U of M for college. Based on a variety of racial and economic factors, the schools are very diverse. The average graduation rate is 89%. 

Birmingham Public Schools have a strong academic rating of #6 best school districts in Michigan, with the two main high schools being Ernest W Seaholm High School and Wylie E. Groves High School. According to Niche, the percent proficiency rate for reading is 74% and the rate for math is 66%. Birmingham Public Schools have a strong rating of safety, as they are the #2 safest school districts in Michigan and have an average graduation rate of 97%. The student-teacher ratio is 15:1 and the school’s staff is rated as very caring. 

Okemos is ranked as the #4 best school district in Michigan. According to state test scores, 68% of students are at least proficient in math and 74% in reading. The average graduation rate is 92% and the student-teacher ratio is 17:1, matching the national average. Okemos also offers a wide range of courses and classes to take with a commitment to college preparation. 

In Rochester, the dominant high schools are Rochester Adams High School, Stoney Creek High School, and Rochester High School. According to state test scores, 69% of students in Rochester are at least proficient in math and 73% in reading. The school district is ranked #14 in the state of Michigan. The average graduation rate is 96% and the student-teacher ratio is 19:1.
